What’s Coming Up…

Hello Friends,

We have plenty of exciting events coming up very quickly, so we wanted to take a moment to break down exactly what’s on the docket.  If you have any questions or feedback about any of the events, please let us know; we love hearing from everyone and want to help make all of these events as enjoyable as possible.  Also, if you have any friends or family looking to participate, please do pass this information along.  With that, let’s dive right in:

Saturday, May 7 – ISHOF Fran Crippen SafeSwim 1 Mile Dash for Cash

Fort Lauderdale, FL

This one mile open water swim is part of the first annual “Fran Crippen Safe Swim Open Water Festival” being hosted by the International Swimming Hall of Fame in Fort Lauderdale.  The one mile straight shot swim is open to all participants who are capable swimmers, comfortable racing against others in the open water.  Since the festival has been created to celebrate the life and accomplishments of Elevation Athletics co-founder Fran Crippen, safety and fun will be the main focus of the race, with all proceeds from the event going to benefit the Fran Crippen Elevation Foundation. The festival will also include a free open water swim clinic (which you can also register for on the EA site) and a 10K elite race which will be an amazing spectator event. Sunday, June 5 – 2011 Shenandoah Valley Sprint Tri for the Y

Waynesboro, VA

The Tri for the Y is returning for a second season after a very successful first race. The scenic 400 meter swim, 15.9 mile bike and 5 kilometer run offers the perfect opportunity for serious triathletes and first-time participants to come together, race the clock and raise money for the Waynesboro Family YMCA. We have some exciting new improvements to this year’s race and are looking forward to another beautiful morning at Ridgeview Park. Also remember that the event is open to participants of all ages, and there is an option for relay teams as well.  For more information, or to sign up for the Shenandoah Valley Sprint Tri for the Y, click here.

Saturday, June 11 – 2011 Crippen Mile Open Water Swim

Fort Myers, FL

That’s right, a SECOND open water swim for our great friend Fran. The organizers for the Fort Myers Estero Open Water Festival will be including a one mile, point to point, swim along the shore of Fort Myers Beach in this year’s activities. This race is open to all swimmers comfortable in the open water and promises to be exemplary in regards to the level of safety for all participants. Since this is an evening race, in addition to an award ceremony we’re looking into having a dinner where friends can gather for some good food and relaxation on the beach. If you want to see some of the best open water swimmers in the world, come out a day early to watch the U.S. Olympic Team Trials, which will take place on the same course on Friday, June 10.
