Welcome to the inaugural O’Hill Challenge!  This race is not your typical 5K, but an opportunity to rise to the challenge…literally!  Whether you’re an avid runner looking for a new race, a fierce competitor looking for an exciting new challenge, or an aspiring athlete looking to go a little beyond your average 5K, this is the race for you. This new scenic course will take you through the magnificent Grounds of the University of Virginia, down McCormick Road, and up to the top of Observatory Hill.  Fortunately, what goes up must come down, meaning that all participants will be racing from the top of the hill back down to Newcomb Plaza.  The first one back will be named the King of O’Hill and have bragging rights for the entire year.

As we will be holding the inaugural race on September 11, we want everyone to keep in mind all of those who bravely risked their lives to rescue fellow citizens nine years ago and thank them for their sacrifice.  All profits from the event will go to the Thomas Jefferson EMS Council, so that they may continue on their vital responsibility of offering support to those who need it most.  As always, we welcome you to take this opportunity to elevate yourself and help out an incredibly worthwhile cause along the way.  We look forward to seeing you all at the race!

The Individual Challenge

The men’s champion will be named the King of O’Hill, and women’s champion, the Queen of O’Hill.  There will be prizes for the champion, as well as runner-up and third place finisher for both genders.

The Team Challenge

The Team Challenge will offer the opportunity for groups to compete to be the best team on O’Hill.  We will be taking the combined time for the fastest five runners of each team to determine the team champions for the day.  We will have prizes for the first, second, and third place team, and be dividing teams up according to categories, so you may challenge other similar teams and see where you rank.
